Get Up Kids * Rocket From The Crypt I have been waiting for this for so long! Rocket From The Crypt were the very first band I saw live over 10 years ago. So they will always hold something special in my heart. Then there's the Get Up Kids who create such great emotionally uplifting songs that whenever I feel down I just plug them in. So in anticipation of both bands forthcoming albums on Vagrant records they both contributed a track to this limited colored vinyl release. The packaging wins over many at the beginning. An embossed cover on each side. The insert is on thin paper, the type you find wedding invitations on. Then the vinyl comes in a nice white opaque look with a hint of tan. Now the songs go on and delight you with two great offerings. The Get Up Kids provide the track Up On the Roof. This track is tender and heartfelt between a couple achieving their desires and looking back to see if it was worth it. It is now one of my favorite songs by them. Rocket From the Crypt contribute the song Free Language Demons a track on winning someone over. The horns are excellent addition to the song as they are on many of their songs. But the intensity stays throughout the song and keeps you hungry for more. Which we can hope to be out in time next month. -- Shawn Camp, Staff writer for Pea-Dunk
